The starting point
The company wanted more cabinet refinishing and refacing inquiries from homeowners who didn’t already know its name. But its Performance Max campaigns were working with misleading conversion data.
- Visits counted as sales: someone could browse the website without asking for a quote and still be recorded as a conversion. The account’s reported results weren’t a reliable measure of new inquiries.
- Brand and service searches needed separating: people looking up the company by name were different from homeowners searching for cabinet work. The team needed to see what each group cost to reach and which produced leads.
- Existing inquiries still mattered: some campaigns were bringing in leads. Rebuilding the account meant testing the replacement campaigns without switching everything off at once.
What changed
- 10 verified Google Ads leads in the first 30 days, at $172 per lead.
- Those leads represented $75K in quoted work.
- The team could evaluate campaigns by genuine inquiries and cost per lead, rather than inflated conversion counts.
What we did
Fixed what the account counted as a lead
Corrected conversion tracking so genuine inquiries—not page visits recorded as sales—were the basis for evaluating the campaigns.
Rebuilt campaigns around cabinet services
Launched Search campaigns for cabinet refinishing and refacing, separate from searches for the company’s name. Moved budget over in stages as the new campaigns were tested.
Cut irrelevant searches from targeting
Reviewed the searches triggering the ads and added negative keywords to exclude terms unrelated to the cabinet work the company wanted.
